A fire which broke out at 5am this morning has led to the closure of the Marbella Environmental Centre on the carretera de Ojén. 20,000 tons of tree cuttings were being stored at the centre ahead of recycling. The fire is now controlled, and there is no danger of the fire re-starting, but the large amount of smoke from the blaze has provoked alarm in the area today. Four fire engines attended the blaze.
